Administered all
of the network operations for Specialty Books Inc., a
division of the Nebraska Book Company. Designed and maintained
the physical network that serves over 100 employees on
site and can accept orders 24 hours a day. This involved
the installation and configuration of our Linux based
servers providing services including: imap, firewall,
dns, web servers, sql, samba, network monitoring services,
NAT, ftp and ssl to name a few. Worked with scripting
languages such as Perl, PHP and Bash to automate network
tasks and to create a logging API for the IT department.
Used Perl, PHP and SQL to generate conventional reports
from the school databases to determine order and customer
trends. Managed and maintained the Nebraska Books Company's
proprietary Unix based Inventory Control System and Accounting
System called PRISM.
Handled the installation of the Interchange system which
runs the online order process and interfaces with the
inventory and accounting system. Administered Specialty
Books' 70 web pages which are personlized to each school
served. |

computer problems related to using
